SANFORD, Fla. - The Orlando Snappers rallied for a 6-4 victory over the Sanford River Rats on Saturday night, overcoming an early deficit to move into sole possession of third place in the Florida Collegiate Summer League standings.
Geoffrey D'Amato got the start for Orlando and battled through five defensive errors behind him, allowing no earned runs during his outing.
The Snappers trailed 2-0 entering the seventh inning before finally breaking through. Gavin Gonzalez sparked the comeback with an RBI double that tied the game and shifted the momentum.
In relief of D'Amato, Cole Goodnoe delivered two scoreless innings while stranding three runners across the sixth and seventh innings. Goodnoe's outing helped keep Orlando within striking distance until the offense came alive.
"I went out there and competed," Goodnoe said after the game.
Orlando took the lead for good with a four-run eighth inning and held on for the 6-4 victory.
With the win, the Snappers climbed into sole possession of third place in the league standings as the regular season entered its final week.
Orlando continues its schedule Monday against the league-leading Leesburg Lightning. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
