Leesburg Blows Out Orlando in Dominant 11-4 Win
LEESBURG, Fla. - The Leesburg Lightning defeated the Orlando Snappers 11-4 on Tuesday night. The Lightning's offense came alive in the middle innings, and they never looked back.
The Snappers have hit a skid. Their first back-to-back losses of the 2026 Florida Collegiate Summer League season have come by a combined score of 23-5. After falling 12-1 on Monday, Orlando lost by a smaller margin Tuesday, but the game was still largely controlled by Leesburg. The Lightning eventually closed out the victory in the ninth inning after multiple moments where the run-rule threshold loomed.
Orlando jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning, taking advantage of some defensive mistakes by the Lightning. The lead did not last long, however, as Leesburg scored runs in an increasing sequence, pushing across one run in the third, two in the fourth, three in the fifth, and four in the sixth. Just for good measure, the Lightning added another run in the seventh.
Pitching continued to be a challenge for the Snappers, who allowed 14 hits, issued eight walks, and surrendered 11 runs while also receiving little help from the defense behind them.
The offense struggled as well, producing just one extra-base hit. Orlando drew five walks but stranded too many runners to keep pace with the league-leading Lightning.
Leesburg improved to 9-1 on the season, while Orlando fell to 5-4 but remained above .500.
The Snappers have an off day Wednesday before looking to get back on track in a weekend series against the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at Alfond Stadium.
