Meet the 2022 Winter Garden Squeeze Coaches and Interns
Veteran coach Mike McDaniel is back for a third season in the Florida League, and is now at the helm of the Winter Garden Squeeze.
McDaniel and his staff have spent the last two season in Seminole County coaching the Snappers, as well as the 2020 Loggerheads, but are starting fresh with the Squeeze this season.
McDaniel is the head baseball coach at Olympia High School, where he previously served as an assistant. During his coaching career, McDaniel has spent time at all levels. Professionally, he was an assistant with the Lehigh Valley Black Diamonds and the Allentown Ambassadors. At the college level, he coached at DeSales University as well as the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. Lastly at the high school level, he has been the head coach at Saint Cloud High School, Oak Ridge High School, and Apopka High School before arriving at Olympia.
McDaniel will return all three of his assistants that served alongside him last year with Seminole County.
Jason Sanders is the head baseball coach at Mount Dora Christian Academy. Sanders also teaches social studies at the school. Also serving as an assistant is Angel Otero, who coaches alongside McDaniel at Olympia High School. Otero also coaches in the Florida Travel Baseball organization. Rounding out the staff is Scott Garland, another assistant at Olympia. He is also the director of the Central Florida Bulldogs youth travel program.
McDaniel and his staff will be looking to the Squeeze to the playoffs for the third straight season and to their first championship in club history. The Squeeze will look to get off to a hot start in the season opener against his former team, the Seminole County Snappers, next Friday night at Sanford Memorial Stadium.
As always, with every new season comes a new set of team interns. This year’s group is excited to bring the Squeeze closer to their fans than ever before. Here’s a look at this year’s staff.
