WINTER PARK, Fla. (June 22, 2011) - Winter Park Diamond Dawgs outfielder Ted Blackman has officially committed to Coastal Carolina University.

The commitment came late Saturday (June 18) after a Winter Park victory over the Sanford River Rats.

“The atmosphere of the school fit with what I was looking for,” said Blackman. “And their style fits my game.”

Blackman, a native of Altamonte Springs, Fla., will have a chance to suit up for the Chanticleer's in the outfield as a junior transfer from St. Petersburg Community College. He is currently hitting .385 and leads the Florida League in walks (15), runs scored (19), and doubles (9).

Coastal Carolina followed their 2010 Super Regional campaign with a 42-21 record in 2011, along with a berth to the Clemson (S.C.) Regional.
